National President's Message: August 2010
01-Aug-2010
Dear friends,
In the inestimable passage of time from the cradle of human evolution, the Homo sapiens who commenced from the savannahs of tropical Africa, sixty thousand years ago, have embraced the world. We must indeed celebrate this remarkable journey of progress to our modern times. Humanity has painted an incredible canvas over the years, evoking pride in our past and inspiring hope in our future. Cultural evolution, political and economic revolution, social emancipation, technological innovation and communication have together altered human destiny. Jacob Bronowski, polymath and humanist, had profoundly remarked in his seminal book “The Ascent of Man”: “We are all afraid - for our confidence, for the future, for the world. That is the nature of the human imagination. Yet every man, every civilization has gone forward because of its engagement with what it has set itself to do. The personal commitment of man to his skill, the intellectual commitment and the emotional commitment working together as one, has made the Ascent of Man.”
In celebration of unfolding times, our National HRD Network had created a web presence, built on the social networking platform Web 2.0, that provides a rich and engaging virtual connect between members and beyond. Over 25,000 visitors to our website (http://www.nationalhrd.org/) connect with each other leaving their busy footprints across an array of offerings. Our website helps them engage with the nine rich human resource interactive communities lead by leaders, the knowledge hub, our history, update themselves on the unfolding HR events, browse through our newsletter, keep pace with our journal, participate in our online poll, and even enter our payment gateway to become registered members of our Network. “The world can only be grasped by action, not by contemplation.” We, at NHRDN, experience the amazing power of the social medium in action every day, a remarkable innovative amalgam of technology, information, communication and social interaction.
As we find ways that makes distances vanish and help us grow closer, the wonder of it all dawns on you. Human imagination, much as you contemplate the amazing progress over eons, continues to remain youthful, and reminds me of those memorable words from ‘My Heart Leaps Up’ by William Wordsworth:
“My heart leaps up when I behold
A Rainbow in the sky:
So was it when my life began;
So is it now I am a man;”…
“The Child is father of the man”
Sincerely
