Academy of HRD

Established in 1990 by National HRD Network, the Academy of Human Resources Development is a Centre for Research, Education, Training, and Professional Services in the field of HRD by generating knowledge and disseminating the same to all those interested in the HRD profession.

The academy conducts long term distance education and short term training programmes to develop HRD facilitators. Its research activities aim at discovering new ways and developing people in organised and non-formal settings.

The academy has launched a doctoral level education programme in HRS, jointly with XLRI, Jamshedpur. This programme is meant for HRD professionals already employed to enroll on a part-time basis as well as for fresh postgraduates to enroll on a full-time basis.

The Academy also has a date bank on HRD profiles and practices. The Academy has become an independent autonomous institution in 1993.

In-company program on ‘Organizational Change Leadership through Appreciative Inquiry’ for top HR Executives of Steel Authority of India (SAIL) held at their Management Training Institute, Ranchi.
Dr. Udai Pareek, Distinguished Faculty-IIHMR and Dr. Pradip Khandwalla, former Director, IIM-A also addressed participants of the above workshop and Fellow students on 6th January 2009.
Second contact classes of Fellow & Associate programs 2008-11 Batch was conducted at Academy from 5th to 23rd January 2009.
Mr. Aquil Busrai, Director HR, IBM-India and National President-NHRDN visited the Academy and interacted with faculty and fellow students of 2008-11 batch during lunch hosted by Fellow students.
Mr. K.K. Verma, Director-AHRD delivered a Keynote address at S.K.Patel Institute of Management’s Management Conference on ‘Economic Crisis and New HR Challenges’ on 7th January 2009.
Dr. Hardik Shah, Asst. Professor-AHRD presented a paper on ‘Fatigue and Job Satisfaction among Health Care Professionals: Issues, Challenges and Strategies’ (co-authored with Prof. Nina Muncherji) at Nirma International Conference on Management 2009 on 8th January 2009.
An interactive session with Dr. Hasmukh Adhia, IAS, principal Secretary to Govt. of Gujarat on ‘Exploring HR Issues and Challenges in Government Sector’ was organized at IIMA on 15th January for Fellow students.
An MoU was signed with ISABS on 23rd January 2009 for collaboration in the areas of conducting MDPs, development of staff, exchange of faculty, joint round tables / conferences, joint PG or certification programs, in-company programs and consulting etc.
6th Experiential Workshop on Appreciative Inquiry for Organizational Leadership held from January 29-31, 2009 at the Academy of HRD, Ahmedabad.
Mr. KK Verma, Director, Academy of HRD, held two sessions on “HRD Model for Business Focus” with student of first year and second year of BK School of Management, Ahmedabad on January 29, 2009.
Dr. T. V. Rao, Chairman-TVRLS and Fr. Abraham SJ, Director-XLRI visited Academy on 5th January 2009 and addressed the participants of Experiential Workshop “Becoming Effective Team Player and Team Leader” and Fellow students of 2008-11 Batch.
